    • CHIPLEY LOSES RESIDENT BY DEATH FRIDAY

      Funeral Rites for R B Slay Attended By Large Crowd Sunday

      Funeral services were held here Sunday afternoon for R B Slay prominent citizen of this place, whose death occurred suddenly Friday at noon. The rites were attended by the largest number of people seen at a funeral in this section in a long time. Burial took place in Salem cemetery, eight miles from here, after services were conducted at the family home.

      Six daughters, Mrs O W Lawrence of Mobile, Mrs Tharpe Henry of Quantico, Virginia, Mrs Harvey Davis of Tampa, Mrs Aubrey Windham of Ozark, Ala, Mrs Richard Slay of Washington, D C and Miss Mary Bernice Slay of Chipley and one son, John Slay, also of this place. Two brothers N B Slay and Alex Slay and two sisters, Mrs E B Chance and Mrs Healey, all of near here, are also left with many other relatives in this community.

      Mrs Slay was an employee f the Gulf Refining Co for 11 years and had hots of friends who will remember him as a jovial, kindly man, conscientious and affectionate father. He was a regular member of the Baptist Men's Bible class and of that church.

      His passing was a great shock to his family and friends and will occasion a vacancy that will never be filled in their hearts.
