  JAMESTOWN - Nellie Kate Mayhew Slay Beddington, 105, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 12 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Greensboro News & Record (Greensboro NC) Friday, February 25, 2011, Page A13 *********************************************** JAMESTOWN - Mrs. Nellie Kate Mayhew Slay Beddington, 105, a resident of The Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, and formerly of High Point, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Shannon Gray. She was born on September 20, 1905 in Climax, VA to Jesse and Josephine Mayhew. She worked at Blue Bell in Greensboro, Carolina Pillow Mfg., Jim Rich Face Veneer, and Ven Ply, Inc. She was a member of Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Slay in 1972, whom she married on September 22, 1934 and Frank Beddington in 1998, whom she married in 1989, a brother, William Mayhew, and sisters, Ellen Parrish and Mae Parker. Surviving are her son, Alton Lee Slay and wife Martha of High Point; grandchildren, Jeffrey Slay and Julie DaFalco and husband Lucas; step-grandchildren, Diane Hensley and Karen Perdue; great-grandchildren, Laura Byrd and Ashley Bryd; and step-great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Farley and Trey Perdue. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Larry Sledge officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and at other times at the home of her son, Al, 3404 Greenhill Dr. High Point. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Shannon Gray for their care and concern for Nellie and her family.
